Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 29, 2026
Omer is a contemplative journaling app for counting the Omer. It is published by Health Stream Analytics, LLC, which also operates SeferAI. This policy covers the Omer app for iPhone and iPad only. SeferAI's own policy is at seferai.org/privacy-policy.
In short: Omer has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. We do not collect any data from you.
1. Data that stays on your device
- Journal entries: daily sefirah ratings, effort and insight ratings, written reflections and your full cycle history.
- Preferences and settings.
- AI provider API keys, if you add one. They are stored in the iOS Keychain and are not synced to iCloud.
- The name of your city, if you enable sundown reminders, for display only.
2. iCloud backup (optional)
If you turn on iCloud backup, Omer stores its data file in your own private iCloud Drive, where you can see it in the Files app. It is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your Apple Account. We have no access to it.
3. Network requests (optional, and only when you enable them)
- Weekly Torah portion: about once a week, Omer requests the current parsha from sefaria.org. The only thing sent is whether you follow the diaspora or the Israel calendar. No identifier, location or journal content is sent.
- AI readings: if you add your own API key for Anthropic, OpenAI or Google and tap Generate, Omer sends a prompt and your key directly from your device to that provider. The prompt contains the week's Torah portion, Sefaria's description of it and the day's sefirot pairing. It never contains your journal entries. The provider's privacy policy governs that request. We do not see it.
- Links you tap: "Read on Sefaria" and the further reading at the end of Foundations open the page in your browser. Omer adds nothing to the request; the website sees what it sees from any visitor.
Links with the SeferAI app
- Where you are in your count is written to a small area on your device that the SeferAI app, from the same publisher, can read: your cycle's start date (or, for a cycle without one, the day you last had open) and the date you last used Omer. SeferAI uses it to show which day of your count it is and to remind you to check in if you haven't opened Omer that day. Nothing else from Omer is in that area, and it never leaves your device.
- "Explore in SeferAI" and "Study in SeferAI" open the SeferAI app with a question about the day's sefirot pairing or a source filled in. Nothing is sent until you tap Ask in SeferAI, where SeferAI's own privacy policy applies. The question never contains your journal entries.
4. Location (optional)
If you enable sundown reminders, Omer asks for your location while the app is in use, computes the coming sundown times on your device, and discards the coordinates. Only the resulting times and your city name are kept, on your device.
5. Notifications (optional)
Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. There are no push servers.
6. What we never receive
Your journal, your name, an account, any identifier, your precise location, crash reports, usage analytics or any other telemetry. The app contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting libraries.
7. Your control
- Export all of your data as JSON at any time (Settings → Export).
- Delete all data, including any API key, with one tap (Settings → Clear all data). Deleting the app also removes its on-device data.
8. Children
Omer collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and describe the change in the app's release notes.
