Common questions

Do I need an account? No. Omer has no accounts. Everything works offline on your device.

How do I keep my journal when I change phones? Turn on iCloud backup in Settings, or use Settings → Export to save a JSON file and import it on the new device.

Does Omer only work during the Omer? No. Between Pesach and Shavuot it follows the Omer count. The rest of the year you can run your own 49-day cycles.

What are AI readings, and do they cost anything? They are optional. Omer can generate a short reading of the week's Torah portion in light of the day's sefirot pairing using your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google. Any cost comes from that provider. Your journal is never sent.

Why are sundown reminders asking for my location? To compute local sundown on your device. Coordinates are discarded right after; only the times and your city name are kept.

Diaspora or Israel? Choose in Settings → Hebrew calendar. It affects holiday lengths and the weekly parsha.

How does Omer work with SeferAI? "Explore in SeferAI" on a day, and "Study in SeferAI" under a source, open the SeferAI app with a question filled in. Nothing is sent until you tap Ask there. With both apps installed, SeferAI shows the day of your count and reminds you to check in if you haven't opened Omer that day. Omer shares only where you are in your count and when you last opened it, on your device.
